Don’t Give Up

“Pray for it, then prepare for it.” A little too often, we give God our prayer and we leave it there. This phrase convicted me this morning because I realized that within myself, I tend to give God my worries and anxieties and just wait for him to come to the rescue. Although He is a God that will rescue and stand by you, He is also a God that is concerned with our heart and our character. He cares that we are a people of action.

This means that we pray, and then we work. We partner ourselves with God as we set a goal or move toward a promise. Time and time again I am reminded of how practical He is in our relationship with Him. Just like an earthly relationship, we don’t just tell someone what we want and wait for them to do all the work (hopefully not). No, we share our dream and we work alongside each other to make that dream come true. It is a relationship that goes both ways.

Often time we are disappointed with God when the reality is that we are the ones that did not put our full efforts forward. God was, is, and always will be faithful. The challenge is bringing ourselves to the place of complete surrender and commit ourselves completely to the Lord.

So, today…I challenge myself and anyone else who needs it, to really contemplate what God has set on their heart. Pray for it, and then start to work on it. Research it, talk to someone about it, do something to make that dream come to life. Don’t give up, keep moving forward.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your love. Thank you for always being faithful and never giving up on us. Today, we ask for encouragement and the ability to not give up on you or ourselves. We pray that you stir our hearts and reveal to us the plans that you have for us and infuse us with the desire to keep moving forward. Thank you for helping us every step of the way. Amen.
